Lots of scientists spend huge amounts of time writing proposals for future research. But, an Australian physicist has broken new ground by submitting a plan for future efforts not to a grant agency seeking funding, but to his ladylove, apparently a fellow physicist, seeking her hand in marriage. “Two Body Interactions: A Longitudinal Study” is a marriage proposal in the form of a journal article, complete with acknowledgements to the University of Sydney and the colleagues’ families.
But who says scientists aren’t great romantics? Perhaps this amorous Aussie investigator was inspired not by Cupid, but by our own American Association for the Advancement of Science, which has a long tradition of meeting, whenever possible, on Valentine’s Day.
